The Story of More More Tea Inn
The More More Tea Inn was used as the main location for a successful Hong Kong movie, ‘SUMMER HOLIDAY starring Sammi Cheng and Ritchie Ren. The movie screened in all Asian countries in 1999.
Initially designed as a temporary structure, the set was unable to withstand the harsh island weather and rapidly deteriorated. In 2003, Laguna Redang Island Resort restored the building to its former glory with more robust construction methods and materials.
It is now one of the most popular attractions and a photography spot, particularly among visitors who have seen the movie.
The Inn currently houses a gift shop for Laguna Redang Island Resort and offers a variety of souvenir items, handicraft, soft toys, apparel, accessories, toiletries, snacks and beverages.
'Summer Holiday' tells a story of the friendship and love between Sammy and Ritchies’ characters amongst the spectacular view of Redang Island.
Summer Holiday (2000)
夏日的麼麼茶
Director: Jingle Ma
Starring: Richie Jen, Sammi Cheng
Summer Koo (Sammi Cheng), an ambitious woman suffering from a broken heart and financial difficulties, files to an island in Malaysia to sell a tropical resort that she and jointly owns.
Unlike the regular vacationers, Summer hasn't traveled all that distance to frolic among the palms. She wants to sell the beach quick and take her cash back to Hong Kong.
She soon meets "More More Tea" (fellow Cantopop star, Richie Ren), an indigenous inhabitant, who claims to be the authentic owner of the hotel. He calls the sandy environs home and isn't willing to sell his share. Each time Summer tries to talk business with him, he leaps into the sea and ignores her.
Two entirely different people begin a paradoxical battle of love in this quiet and relaxing island.
This movie features numerous songs by both Sammi and Richie.
DVD: List Price: US $19.95
