HAI PENG!!!!

Caroline was an adventurous soul.  She read up all the brochures on Trengganu
to find out what Kemaman and its environs had to offer by way of dinner.
She was the one who found Tong Juan the stuffed crab place the other night.
Here she came across HAI PENG and we set out looking for it....

Since we do not know Kemaman at all, we took a long time
and was going round in circles looking for the elusive Hai Peng.
Just when we least expected it, we saw HAI PENG!!! behind the giant songkok!

OMG! It was such a crowded place! And it was only 6 o'clock, hardly dinner time!
You can see that the crowd is not confined to the Chinese only,
and the queue extended to outside the shop spilling on to the roadside.

Caroline had to stand behind someone's back to wait for them to leave!
While I took a shot of the facade
At last we got our table, but now we had to wait for the table to be cleared
So I took shots of the interior
Old artefacts added to the retro look of the old-house coffee shop
Somewhere hidden amongst all those memorabilia is the cashier
whose cash till must have gone "ker plunk! ker plunk" with all those dough rolling in.
Appetiser: pulut panggang
Many dishes were sold out: so we had spaghetti: not Hai Peng's signature dish
Kaya on toast with ice-cream!
My coffee!  kopi-0
Kopi O kau kau...the way I like it, I acquired this taste from my father
Cuppucino
Hai Peng special ice-blended
Soft boiled eggs for dinner! it was so good, they ordered another round!
After dinner, outside the shop
Hai Peng is now on the map

Mission Accomplished: Hai Peng is now on our itinerary of "must-do"
place next time we come to Kemaman.
