Trengganu Lifestyle

As we drove around Kijal, we stopped to take photos and showed our kids
the Trengganu lifestyle, far away from the hustle and bustle of city life.

No traffic, no urban slums, no signs of a sea of humanity,
only a sea of tranquil blue and ikan bilis drying in the sun

Cuttlefish or sotong or jiu hu
These did not qualify to be Paul the World Cup soothsayer
so they ended up strung up on their wrong ends

The day's catch : done.

Yes, you saw correctly, this is a Chinese house because you can see the Chinese altar
They advocated OneMalaysia long before the Prime Minister came up with the idea
Cina  Ah Pek and his kids and Malay well dressed fisherfolk mix harmoniously
Lazy, lanquid afternoon, this man is preparing to take a nap
Snoozing...who needs pillows or sheets or air conditoning?
and what global warming? I've got all the fresh air
exhilarating sea breezes that I need.
These nappers had each other for company, no need for Astro

Dilapidated houses but they are comfortable with this type of spartan lifestyle

This one has no stilts, and can support whole families like below
Trengganu version of a barn, entire generations are brought up here
Stylish kids with new clothes, you would not think they are off springs of fishermen

Communal living, with teens, tots and grandma
What grandma? she is probably even younger than me!
Easy going life sans stress or strife
Ladies' afternoon out...high society high-tea
When they cook, they make it a big pot for everybody

No, this is not a kenduri or thanksigiving,
this is just dinner for Ali, Ahmad, Ah Seng and Ah Lian.
