Merang Beach

Merang is the gateway to the world famous archipelago of Redang islands. The beach, although not the most famous in the east coast, its long sandy beach and stretches of tall coconut trees and sparklingcrystal clear sea water is somehow making Pantai Merang a good stopto enjoy the sea breeze before proceeding to next destination. There are some cheap chalets run by the local offering basic accommodation ifyou later decided to spend a night or so in this tranquil beach.

Pantai Merang, Setiu, TERENGGANU - Malaysia Travel Review
LOCATION:
Pantai Merang is located in the District of Setiu in the central section of Terengganu state. Most the photos in this articles were taken at the public park of Pantai Merang just a few minutes away from Merang Jetty. In general, the long coastline of Pantai Merang is located about 30 kilometres to the north of Kuala Terengganu.
DESCRIPTION:
The name of "Merang" is rather unfortunate as it is often mistaken for another popular beach area that goes by the name of "Marang" to the south of Kuala Terengganu. In recent days, the many beaches along the stretch of coastal Setiu district have gained better visibility to the public with the ever-growing flock of tourists to the idyllic islands off the coast of Pantai Merang, namely Pulau Redang and Pulau Lang Tengah. In fact, regular island goers have to make the compulsory stop at Pantai Merang where the main passenger boat jetty is located........

While Irene and Ivan were still snoozing, we went out to Merang Beach

Here's Millie, outside Best Western Merang Resort, all dressed and ready
to hit the beach. Sundress bought off-the-rack from the roadside!!

When I told her we are going to Merang Beach, she was so ecstatic she was bowled over.

WOW!!!! MERANG BEACH!! Gives new meaning to the phrase "Powdery Beach"

MY VERDICT:

A beautiful stretch of sandy beach and turquoise-blue water.
Plenty of space to call your own.

My daughter and I...
I recommend you have a little baby like her,
so that when the big ones are too busy studying, you can bring the young one.

Do you like my beach outfit? Elle raspberry shirt with Elle lilac mini
...covers all my lumps and bumps and middle aged cellulite
My sister and I....
My little baby is fast outgrowing her beach toys, and she misses Ely
One minute the sky is bright, the next minute.....
SUDDENLY....
the sky became overcast!
Dark clouds loomed

Nevermind, here comes the charlattan doing a rain dance
With vigorous shaking off her magic tresses,
THE SKY CLEARED, miraculously!!

Blue skies and bright lights again!

Look what games other people play on the beach?
Bury me in the sands of Merang before the next teardrop falls
(or the next wave hits)
Note that there are many beaches that can be considered Pantai Merang
as the beach stretch itself is extremely long and largely uninhabited.

"Merang is the jumping-off point to the magical island of Pulau Redang famed for its magnificent beaches and crystal-clear waters where in the shallows wild sea fish remarkably come to feed from hands."
Not to be confused with Marang, this stretch of beach is north of Kuala Terengganu and is relatively off the beaten track of most visitors to the state, though easily accessible by road. Locals, however, are well in the know of this "pristine beach haven" with long stretches of tall coconut palms, golden sands, gentle surf and emerald-coloured waters.
Nearby is the fishing village of Kampung Merang, from where one can hire a boat to go up the Merang River which weaves lazily through mangrove and peat swamps. And, if you are lucky at dusk, you may see thousands of fireflies display their glittering light spectacle. Merang is the jumping-off point to the magical island of Pulau Redang famed for its magnificent beaches and crystal-clear waters where in the shallows wild sea fish remarkably come to feed from hands
